After visiting the Gallipoli battlefields, we took the ferry to the bustling harbor city of Çanakkale.  Aussies and Kiwis gather here every April 25th to commemorate Anzac Day, the Allies’ failed attempt to take control of the Dardanelles. From our ferry to Çanakkale, we were able to see the city’s landmark, an Ottoman clock tower, as we admired the vibrant landscape.
