No visit to Istanbul is complete without a stroll down Istiklal Caddesi, the city’s busiest and most animated shopping street.  We took the tram and funicular from Sultanhamet, just in time to hear a muezzin calling the faithful to prayer.  The passersby all seemed oblivious to it, though.  The cable car reminded us of San Francisco.
